With video, it will compress any resolutions higher than 1080p down to 1080p. For example, the application will compress photos larger than 16 megapixels. The bad news is it will change the quality of the original photo or video to use a more “bandwidth-friendly” compression.

The good news is that the “high-quality” images don’t count against your data cap. High quality is a little bit of a misnomer and has positive and negative aspects. When you select photos, you will be presented with two choices: Original or High quality. I would recommend against backing up your whole computer and focus only on a few folders so it is entirely clear what is being saved into the cloud. To begin, you will need to sign into your Google account and select which folders you’d like to backup to Google Drive.
